The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Thursday announced that DUSU President Ankiv Baisoya had been told to resign from his post.

"He has also been expelled from all the responsibilities of the organization till the inquiry is over (in fake degree case)," ABVP said in a statement.

In September this year, the NSUI which recently lost DUSU polls to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) alleged Basoya has submitted fake documents to get admission into Delhi University.
The RSS-affiliate, however, has refuted the allegations, saying Basoya was given admission after due verification of the documents by the university.

The Congress-backed NSUI released a letter from Thiruvalluvar University, which it said was received in response to a communication from the student body. The letter stated that the BA certificate from the university submitted by Basoya, was fake.

"Basoya had presented a mark sheet for admission to MA (Buddhist Studies) course. The Thiruvalluvar University, on the other hand, has clearly refused having enrolled any student with such a name. A mark sheet of that serial number was also not found in their records," the NSUI said.

The ABVP, meanwhile, dismissed the NSUI claims as political propaganda. "DU gave admission to Ankiv Basoya after due verification of its documents. It's the process of DU. Even today, DU has all the right to verify documents of any student enrolled in the university. But it's not the job of the NSUI to provide certificates to any person. DU has all the right to verify documents of not only Basoya but all DUSU office-bearers to stop rumours in future," the ABVP said.

RSS-affiliated student outfit bagged three posts, including that of the president, in the DUSU elections last week. Basoya won the presidential post with a margin of 1,744 votes, while ABVP's Shakti Singh was declared the vice-president after he won by a margin of 7,673 votes.

NSUI's Akash Choudhary won the secretary's post and ABVP's Jyoti emerged victorious as the joint-secretary.
