Fake currency notes (FCN) with a face value of Rs 10.94 lakh were seized from a woman in bordering Baishnabpur area in West Bengal's Malda district by the BSF.

Acting on a tip off, BSF on Sunday raided the house of Anita Mondal (40) on the Indo-Bangla border and found FCNs in the denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1000, a release said.

The woman was alone in the house and has been arrested.

The FCNs had been allegedly kept in the woman's house by a villager, who is absconding since the raid.

She had been allegedly paid some money to hide the fake notes, the sources said.

She was produced in a court yesterday, which remanded her to police custody for two days.

Fake notes enter the country from Bangladesh through Malda and there have been many instances of seizures in the past.
