Stepping up heat on the Congress, Union Minister of IT and Law, Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday claimed that the footprint of the controversial Cambridge Analytica (CA) company, which has been accused of data breach, was evident in Rahul Gandhi’s election campaign in Gujarat.

He attacked the Congress over its silence on news reports of its involvement with CA. Prasad’s attack came soon after Congress president Rahul Gandhi alleged that the government had invented the data theft story and Congress’ involvement in it to divert public attention when it was caught lying about the death of 39 Indians in Iraq.

“39 Indians dead; Govt on the mat, caught lying. Solution: Invent story on Congress & Data Theft. Result: Media networks bite bait; 39 Indians vanish from radar, Problem solved.” Rahul tweeted.

Within two hours of Rahul’s tweet, Prasad dismissed Rahul’s allegations in a press conference saying that the Congress president “shouldn’t play politics over the bodies of Indians who died in unfortunate circumstances”.

“This company is known for fake news, and below standard campaign. Do I need to record before you Rahul Gandhi’s language — Gabbar Singh Tax and the whole social media campaign? Therefore the footprint of the DNA of this company was evident in Gujarat,” Prasad added.

Congress was quick to hit back. Congress media in-charge Randeep Surjewala said, “Instead of law minister he should be named as Lie minister. Hitler had a general called Goebbels and now Modiji has Ravi Shankar Prasad as his general.”
