The BJP upped its social media game on Friday. It spun the now-trending #10YearChallenge into its own #5YearChallenge. And the obvious theme was to focus on the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government from 2014 to 2019.

The BJP went on a tweet blitz on Friday morning, putting out 24 tweets with the hashtag #5YearChallenge which pretty much set the agenda for social media activity for BJP ministers and leaders, many of whom retweeted a number of the posts.

Among the things for which the BJP claimed credit for making a difference were the conduct of the ongoing Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj, the competition of the Bogibeel Bridge across the Brahmaputra in Assam, completion of the Kollam Bypass in Kerala, the increase in the number of toilets in rural areas, rise in gas connection coverage, electrification of all villages, improved Ease of Doing Business ranking, rise in rural road connectivity and the restoration of Varanasi's Assi Ghat among other things.

Here are some of the tweets that the BJP put out in its #5YearChallenge:

The tweet-storm comes even as the BJP gears up for its bid to renew its mandate in the coming 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The appropriation of a trending hashtag was also in line with the deftness of the BJP's spinners at turning blasé things and attacks into workable campaign tools, just as they did with the chai wala remarks ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
