Exiled Pakistani activist asks PM Narendra Modi to speak to Imran Khan's govt, help him go home

A Pakistani human rights activist, who has taken refuge in India, has written to PM Narendra Modi, asking him to raise his issue with the new government in Islamabad and help him return to his home country. Zulfiqar Shah, a native of Sindh province, along with his wife Fatima Shah, had to escape to Nepal after being hounded by the sleuths of the Pakistan Army and intelligence agencies.

Both husband and wife are in Delhi since February 2013. Since October 2013, both of them have been sitting at Jantar Mantar, protesting against the human rights violation and harassment by Pakistan.

Last year, they created a stir in Delhi, claiming that a gadget/chip had been inserted in their bodies by the United States in connivance with Pakistani authorities. Acting on a complaint submitted to the PMO, police authorities in Delhi took up the investigation, but rejected the claim.

He has also approached the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), seeking the appointment of a medical board to use modern techniques to detect the chip in his body. Zulfiqar claims that through the chip, he is being tortured by Pakistani officials. Shah was born in a rural town -- Radhan -- of Dadu district, Sindh province in Pakistan. Formally educated in Philosophy as well as Development Studies, he was executive director at The Institute for Social Movements, Pakistan and editor, The Social Movements journal from 2010–2012.

The Allegations
