Former President Pranab Mukherjee who in the start of his career worked as a college teacher before joining politics will be teaching students again. This time, the veteran politician will be taking a course in public policy in prestigious Indian Institute of Management at Ahmedabad (IIM-A), reports Mint.

According to IIM- A, Mukherjee will be teaching a course called  “Public policy for Inclusive Development of India”. The course will be part of IIM-A's  School of Public Policy.  According to report, ex-President will be teaching more than half the course consisting of 22 sessions. The fortunate students will be getting Pranab Mukherjee's views and parliamentary democracy and inclusive development in India. Mukhejee in his long political career and later as President has served the nation for more than six decades. So it is expected he will bring his treasure trove of experience into play to teach the talented IIM-A students.

“This new course is housed within the JSW School of Public Policy at IIMA and Shri Pranab Mukherjee, former President of India, is to be the faculty for at least 12 out of 22 sessions”, said an IIM-A communique. It is unclear whether Pranab Mukherjee will be paid for this teaching stint. Apart from the standard MBA programme, students of the executive programme will also be able to attend his lecture. Some of the themes which will be covered by Pranab Mukherjee are  “Constitutional Provisions for Socio-economic Inclusivity: Theory and Parliamentary Practice; Policy and Institutional Intervention for Financial Inclusion: A Legacy to be Built Upon, and Articulating Policy and Institutional Agenda for Future Transformation of India.

Earlier, former President APJ Abdul Kalam earlier taught in IIM-A.  Mukherjee holds MA degree in history and political science and also has a law degree. He taught Political Science in Vidyasagar College, Kolkata in 1963 before he had formally joined politics. In that sense, it will be back to roots for Mukhejee who has virtually retired from active politics after finishing his stint as President. As a senior politician, Pranab Mukherjee often schooled newcomers about the ways and means of Parliament. Now, he will be teaching some of those facets to his IIM students.
