The multi-crore Yadav Singh scam took a new turn on Friday as UP Food and Civil Supplies Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya's name emerged as one of his associates who had invested several crore rupees in the tainted Noida Chief Engineer's shell companies.

In a complaint filed before the SIT on black money formed by the Supreme Court, a former Raja Bhaiya aide Manoj Tiwari has stated that the minister had also invested with Uflex Group chairman Ashok Chaturvedi, whose offices and residence had been raided by Income Tax authorities. Chaturvedi had earlier also been jailed in the Noida plot scam, and is presently on bail.

Raja Bhaiya was not available for comment. His staff said he was out of UP and could not be contacted, though the minister has earlier denied these allegations, originally made by his ex-PRO Rajiv Yadav in 2011.

The complaint mentions that the minister invested a sizeable Rs 147 crore with Yadav Singh. The money, he alleged, had been given in three instalments. "Raja Bhaiya has made over Rs 200 crore in the foodgrain scam which would not be less than Rs 2 lakh crore," he told Zee Media.

The CBI has been probing this scam in which foodgrains meant for public distribution were illegally exported to Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. Most of this scam relates to the period between 2004 and 2007 when Raja Bhaiya was Food and Civil Supplies Minister, a ministry which he heads in the Akhilesh Yadav regime, too.

In his complaint, Tiwari has annexed copies from a diary in which the illicit money transactions were recorded, allegedly in the handwriting of Raja Bhaiya himself, his wife Bhanvi and his former PRO Rajiv Yadav. It was Yadav who had handed over the diary to the CBI in 2011 which opened a can of worms relating to the foodgrain scam.

Copies of the diary in possession of Zee Media show that Raja Bhaiya gave one "Masroor Bhai" of MM Builders (Mumbai) Rs 15 crore. Similarly, Rs 35 crore were allegedly given to Ashok Chaturvedi and Rs 5 crore to Anil Tulsiani of Allahabad. There are three entries (Rs 50 cr, Rs 45 cr and Rs 52 cr) in the name of "Yadav Singh ji Noida waale engineer sahib". At the end, Rajiv Yadav has recorded that the rest of the cash has been deposited with "chhoti huzoor" (Raja Bhaiyya's wife).
