Delhi is celebrating two big festivals today. Dusshera and immersion of Durga idols, although most idols will be immersed on October 23. On the occasion of Dusshera, several Ramlila committees will organise massive procession as shobha-yatra and it's an obvious anticipation that roads in several parts of the national capital will be jam-packed.

Several light and heavy vehicles for immersion of the Durga idols will also cause the traffic to least movable in some parts.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sandeep Goyal told that such programmes may affect the traffic movement in Delhi, reported Hindustan Times.

"To ensure the safety of drivers, some instructions have been issued. If vehicle drivers want to avoid traffic and jam, they must follow the advice by traffic police," Goyal was quoted as saying.

Procession of Samyukta Durga Pooja Shibha Yatra Samiti of Chitranjan Park will start at 1:30 pm on October 22 that will have trucks, tempos, tractors and cars etc. This will affect traffic on roads connecting to ISBT Kashmiri gate. Other processions are likely to damp the traffic on Mandir Marg, peshwa Road, Gol Market, Bhai Veer Singh Marg, Baba Khadag Singh Marg, Cannaught Circus, Minto Road, DDU Marg, BSZ Marg, Delhi Gate and JLN Marg, report said.

The report further said that several processions are supposed to start from several parts of South Delhi including RK Puram and Greater Kailash that will go to Kalindi Kunj via Nehru Place.

This is likely to affect traffic on Savitri flyover, Chirag Dilli flyover, Nehru Place, Kalkaji Mandir Road, Modi Mill flyover etc.
