Known for his controversial statements, the BJP MLA from Bairia Basti in Uttar Pradesh Surendra Singh served yet another shocker saying that “even Lord Ram cannot prevent incidents of rapes in the state”.

“I can say it for sure that such incidents of rapes cannot be checked even if Lord Ram comes on earth. These incidents are the natural culmination of polluted minds,” said the BJP MLA when asked about rise in crime against women, particularly rape in Uttar Pradesh under the Yogi Adityanath government.

He further said that rape cases can only be checked by inculcating moral values and developing good character among men, women and children in the society. “Even stringent laws will not be able to check rape. One must develop good character and moral values among men, women, and children to stop the occurrence of such incidents,” said he.

He suggested that rapist should also be eliminated in encounters instead of just sending them behind bars. “Criminals are being killed in encounters by the police but those committing rape are just sent behind bars. They should also meet the same fate,” suggested the controversial BJP MLA.

Earlier, Singh had blamed the use of smartphones for increase in number of rape cases in Uttar Pradesh.

In the past, the BJP MLA had shot into limelight when he predicted that India will become a Hindu Rashtra by 2024. He had called West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Bannerjee ‘Supranakha’, sister of demon king Ravana. He had also compared bureaucrats with prostitutes saying that they are worst than ‘kothewali.
