Jharkhand State Minority Commission today directed the Seraikela-Kharswan district administration to ensure adequate security in Shobhapur village under Rajnagar police station, where four persons were lynched on suspicion of being child lifters on Thursday.

A team of the commission headed by its Chairman Kamaal Khan visited the affected Shobhapur village, where one of the four victim was beaten to death by the villagers suspecting him to be a child lifter.

Khan said he had a meeting with the senior district officials including Sub-Divisional Officer and Superintendent of Police over the lynching issue and directed them to make adequate security arrangement till the situation returns to normalcy.

Khan said he interacted with the villagers and directed the district administration provide them adequate security after they expressed apprehension about their security.

About child lifting rumours, Khan said the commission suggested that necessary steps in this regard be taken to check spread of such canard as well as recurrence of such heinous crime.

Khan, however, refused to comment when asked whether the commission was satisfied with the police action in regard to the Rajnagar lynching, where four members of the minority community were killed on child lifting suspicion, as well as the actual reason behind the incident.

It is premature to comment on the issue as the commission was investigating the incident, he said.

Khan said the commission would submit its report to the state government following completion of the investigation in regard with Rajnagar lynching incident.

Later, Khan, accompanied by commission vice-presidents Sardar Gurudev Singh Raja, Ashok Sarangi and Secretary M Alam, also visited Haldipokhan village in East Singhbhum district.
