The company said any claim that a name in the list is necessarily related to a Pegasus target or Pegasus potential target is erroneous and false.
Amid the huge controversy over the Pegasus spyware in India, NSO Group, the company that makes the software, has said that it will no longer respond to the media enquiries on this matter and it will not play along with the vicious and slanderous campaign.
"Enough is enough," NSO said in an official statement.
"In light of the recent planned and well-orchestrated media campaign lead by Forbidden Stories and pushed by special interest groups, and due to the complete disregard of the facts, NSO is announcing it will no longer be responding to media inquiries on this matter and it will not play along with the vicious and slanderous campaign," the statement from the company read.
Reiterating that the list that is being talked about in the matter is not a list of targets or potential targets of Pegasus, the company said that the numbers in the list are not related to NSO group and any claim that a name in the list is necessarily related to a Pegasus target or Pegasus potential target is erroneous and false.
“NSO is a technology company. We do not operate the system, nor do we have access to the data of our customers, yet they are obligated to provide us with such information under investigations," the statement added.
The NSO Group has also added that if it really gets any concrete evidence of the misuse of Pegasus, then it will be investigated and if the wrong use is found, the system will also be shut down.
On the other hand, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has attacked the opposition on the uproar over the Pegasus espionage case. He said that the opposition is not allowing the discussion of Parliament to go ahead on the pretext of espionage scandal and is defaming the country by making false and baseless allegations. Yogi said that the opposition wants to defame the country and the leadership in the world through negative politics.
Claiming that Amnesty International is directly involved in Pegasus' international conspiracy to defame the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urged the central government to ban its activities in India. Condemning the international organization, Sarma said that Amnesty International is helping various left-wing organizations across the world as part of their conspiracies.
