Eman likely to undergo heart valve replacement

Eman Ahmed, 36, could undergo a valve replacement surgery as a part of her long-term rehabilitation plan said doctors at the Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi, Eman is currently being treated under Dr Yassin El-Shahat and a team of 20 medical professionals there.

The Egyptian national was close to 176 kg when she left Saifee hospital in Mumbai after a fallout between her sister Shaimaa Selim and the hospital administration over her treatment plan. 

Burjeel hospital said that they started her health assessment as soon as she was on board the Egypt Air cargo flight.  “There’s significant improvement due to the rehabilitation programme. Now she is able to raise her right arm against gravity for the first time since she had her first stroke,” said the hospital in an official release on Saturday. 

Strict diet and possible surgical intervention is part of her long-term rehabilitation plan. Samples have also been sent to Germany to detect any possible genetic disorder. 

“Radiological studies of the pelvis, upper limbs and lower limbs revealed advanced deformities in her hip and knee joints,” the hospital added, reaffirming what doctors at Saifee hospital had already pointed out and explained why making her walk will be a challenging task.
