While NCP has launched its Halla Bol campaign against state government on Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked the party workers to be prepared for snap polls.

While addressing the special convention of the BJP state unit at Vasant Smruti, the Mumbai headquarters of the party, Fadnavis is believed to have told party office bearers, 'be prepared since one can not tell as to when elections will be held.'

The day-long deliberations of district presidents of the party along with general secretaries and state unit office bearers was held at Mumbai's Dadar office. Fadnavis and state unit president Raosaheb Dannve addressed the meeting after which special address by Rajya Sabha MP Amar Sabale was held to explain BJP's stance on Koregaon Bhima issue.

Fadnavis pointed out that there is no room for complacency in politics and one should be ready for elections anytime. He said that state unit should maintain contact with the last man on the street and one cannot expect to get good results by starting work when elections are announced.

Fadnavis' advice comes at a time when the opposition is upping the ante against the state government. NCP has launched its Halla Bol march from Tuljapur on Tuesday and sources informed that Sharad Pawar has told party leaders to be prepared for early polls for Lok Sabha anytime after Diwali 2018. Party sources within BJP have indicated that they would launch campaign for reaching out to electorate by this month-end to prepare in eventuality of a snap poll in state or centre.
