On Friday, Shrimoni Akali Dal MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa put up a poster mocking Arvind Kejriwal over his alleged ostentatious spending at Kumaraswamy's swearing-in ceremony in Bengaluru. An RTI reply had shown how much leaders had spent during Kumaraswamy's swearing-in ceremony in Bengaluru.

Sirsa also tweeted; "Delhi ke bacche bhuk mar rahe hain, Kejriwalji Rs 80,000 ka daru pikar aish kar rahe hain. (Children of Delhi are dying of hunge, and Kejriwal is drinking liquour worth Rs 80,000.)"

The banner claimed that CM Kejriwal had created a world record, by drinking liquor worth Rs 80,000 in a day. It was juxtaposed with a picture of three children who ostensibly starved to death in Delhi.

According to a report by Bangalore Mirror, the highest amount was spent on the hospitality of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who ran up a bill of a whopping Rs 8,72,485. The bill for his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal was at Rs 1,85,287 including in-room dining, food/juices of Rs 71,025 and 5,000 for beverages, the report said.

Karnataka's State Hospitality Organisation spent Rs 37,53,536 to provide accommodation and food to leaders. A battery of opposition leaders had attended the swearing-in ceremony and had stayed at two five star hotels — Taj West End and Shangri La — in Bengaluru on May 23 and 24.

Besides, the government spent Rs 4,35,001 on hi-tea buffet organized at Vidhana Soudha Banquet Hall on May 23, the day of the oath-taking ceremony.

In a spectacle showing Opposition unity, a bevy of leaders, from UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi to NCP's Sharad Pawar, from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to her arch-rival CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, attended Kumaraswamy's swearing-in ceremony on May 23.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, BSP supremo Mayawati, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad's son Tejashwi Yadav, former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren of JMM, DMK chief M Karunanidhi's MP daughter Kanimozhi, and RLD leader Ajit Singh were among those present.

While the State Hospitality Organisation did not provide details on the money spent on Ms Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati ran up bills of Rs 1.02 lakh and Rs 1.41 lakh, respectively.

Vijayan, actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot ran up bills of Rs 1.02 lakh each. Rs 64,000 was spent on Yechury and Sharad Pawar each.

Hemant Soren and All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s stay in Bengaluru cost Rs 38,400 each.
