Eight-year-old Dalit raped in Uttar Pradesh

An eight-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a minor in a village in Safdarganj police station area in Barabanki, police said today.

The victim, a third grade student, was on Thursday lured by the accused, unidentified as Ranjit, and raped her after taking her outside the village, they said. The girl was found in an unconscious condition and was later admitted to a hospital and is stated critical, they said.

A case has been registered, they said, adding the accused has been arrested and investigation is underway.
