Eight killed, 12 injured in separate road accidents in Bihar

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the injured persons admitted to a government hospital for treatment.

Eight persons were killed and 12 others injured in separate road accidents in Nawada, Lakhisarai and Sitamarhi districts of Bihar, police said on Thursday.

A car collided with a LPG cylinder-laden truck near Mahadev crossing in Nawada district on Wednesday night in which four persons were killed and ten others injured, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sanjay Kumar Pandey said.

The victims have been identified as Ajit Yadav, Upendra Chouhan, Shyamsunder Chouhan and Brajnandan Chouhan, all occupants of the car which was carrying members of a marriage party to Nardiganj from Konitpur village, he said.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the injured persons admitted to a government hospital for treatment, Pandey said. In another road accident in Lakhisarai district, two bikers were killed and another was injured when a motorcycle with three occupants collided with a van near Kandi village this morning, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sanjay Kumar said.

The bodies of two bikers Mintu Kumar (22) and Umakant Prasad (23) have been sent for post-mortem and the injured pillion rider Ashok Kumar admitted to a hospital for treatment, he said. In Sitamarhi district, two bikers, Rajan Kumar (24) and Md. Wasim (26) were killed and another person was injured when their motorcycle overturned after being knocked down by a speeding truck on NH-77 near Korlahia village in the early hours on Thursday, Deputy Superintendent of Police M N Upadhyaya said.
