Eight, including five children drown in Bihar

Eight persons including five children drowned in four separate incidents in Bihar. Two children met a watery grave at Mahpatiya village within the Bheja police station limits in Madhubani district while taking a bath in the Kosi River.

Bheja Station House Officer (SHO) Niraj Kumar said the deceased have been identified as Mohammad Salauddin (9) and Mohammad Ashraf (7). The dead bodies have been recovered by divers and sent for postmortem to Madhubani Sadar Hospital.

In the meantime, a man identified as Sundar Kumar (24) drowned in a pond under Bihariganj police station in Madhepura district. The SHO of the area Rajesh Kumar said the dead body has been recovered and sent for postmortem.

In another incident, three children met a watery grave in a ditch at Paraiya village under Barachatti police station in Gaya district while bathing in it last evening. Gaya City SP Rakesh Kumar said the incident happened when the children slipped while bathing and went towards the deeper part of the ditch. The deceased have been identified as Pankaj Kumar (12), Rakesh Kumar (10) and Kajal Kumari (10).

In a separate incident, dead bodies of a woman and her daughter were recovered from the Ganga River near Nayagaon in Parbatta in Khagaria district today. Both had drowned while taking a bath yesterday and the police were trying to identify them.
