Education World India School Rankings 2018-19: Mumbai schools lead in India-wide ranking

1K schools were rated by 12,214 people, including teachers, parents

The city had reasons to rejoice after the results of the 12th Annual survey of the Education World India School Rankings (EWISR) 2018-19 were declared on Friday. In boy's day school category Campion school, Fort, stood first, and in girls category, it was JB Petit School for Girls, Fort. In co-ed category Smt Sulochanadevi Singhania School, Thane, came third.

One thousand schools were rated by 12,214 participants, which included educationists, principals, teachers, parents, and students from 27 cities across India. The schools were rated on 14 parameters. The top schools will be felicitated at the Leela Ambience Hotel, Gurgaon this month. The different categories under which the schools were ranked are: day co-ed, day-cum boarding, boarding co-ed, international day school, and fully residential. For the past four years, private schools, special needs schools and government schools are also being ranked under this survey.

In global ranking, after Singhania, Cathedral and John Connon school in Fort ranked number five. Singhania shared the third rank with Step by Step School in Noida under all India rankings and Cathedral shared the fifth rank with The Mother's International School in Delhi.

Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS) bagged number one rank in international school category. Two more city schools featured in the top three — Oberoi International School, Goregaon came second and Ecole Mondiale World School, Juhu came third.

Fr Francis Swamy, Principal, St Mary's ICSE School, Mazgaon, said, "This is due to hard work, dedication of my staff, my proactive parents body and teaching fraternity. All the new and innovative things introduced in the school were supported and appreciated by my teachers and parents' body."

Paul Machado, Principal, Campion School, Fort, said, "Its all because of the active parents support and school staff that we have ranked number one. It's a great feeling to be able to bag the same rank for six consecutive years."
