ED interrogates Tejashwi Yadav in corruption case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, son of Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad on Tuesday in connection with its money laundering probe in the hotels-for-land corruption case. They is agency to grill Tejashwi's mother Rabri Devi on Wednesday in the same case.

Tejashwi was questioned for eight long hours about his accounts and the companies associated with him. Before entering into the headquaters office, Tejashwi told reporters, "I am not running away from any agency. I am here to answer all the queries of all the agencies. I have not done any thing wrong."

According to a senior ED officer, he appeared before the agency headquarters at 12 noon and was grilled for eight longs hours. The case pertains to Lalu's tenure as railways minister and relates to the award of contract to maintain two IRCTC hotels in 2006.

The ED had registered a money a laundering case against them on basis of the FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In the same case, the CBI had already questioned Lalu and Tejashwi.

The CBI had booked Lalu and his family members in July and carried out raids at multiple places. The CBI alleged that Lalu, as railway minister, handed over maintenance of two hotels run by IRCTC, a subsidiary of the Indian Railways, in Ranchi and Puri, to Sujata Hotel, a company owned by Vinay and Vijay Kochhar, in return for a plot of three acres in Patna.
