EC warns about using indelible ink

The Election Commission has put the government in a fix on the use of indelible ink that is used to check bogus voting by marking the voters' fingernails.

As the Finance Ministry issued directives to the banks to use indelible ink to mark customers exchanging old currency on November 15, the EC cautioned the government to keep in mind the rules for usage of the ink during elections. The decision was taken by the government to keep a check on black money operators using poor people in exchanging the notes.

The reason for EC's dilemma lies in the fact that very soon lakhs of people would be casting their votes in approaching by-elections.
