The EC has directed CEO of Uttar Pradesh to issue notices to BSP's Ateeq Ahmad, SP's Atul Garg and PP's Rakesh Valmiki for immediate legal actions to be taken against them.

The candidates were caught on camera making statements to effect of bribing, suppression of election expenses and threatening to attempt booth capturing in an India Today sting operation.

BSP's Ateeq Ahmed Saifi from 28 Moradabad constituency in Uttar Pradesh was caught on camera saying he will abuse his position of power if he gets elected.

"You just have to sit at home and your work, legitimate or illegitimate, will be done at the ministry, Inshallah. If it's something that Behenji (Mayawati) is required to do, I'll have that done as well," he said.

He also acknowledged that elected leaders often are asked to get dishonest tasks done and added that he won't distinguish between right and wrong when it comes to these things.

He also admitted that he has spent over Rs 4 crore, much higher than the Rs 28 lakh, as ordered by the Election Commission.

Atul Garg, Samajwadi Party candidate from Agra North said he was going to bribe voters of backward community as well as give liquor  to them.

"So, I have to buy 15,000 to 20,000 votes. Only then will it be satisfactory. It will be an additional expense of Rs 20-25 lakh," he said.

Peace Party nominee Rakesh Valmiki who is contesting from Agra Cantonment constituency said he would bribe voters and use his muscle power where people were not voting for him. "We'll give Rs 5,000 to 10,000 directly to the voters. We'll also have men shoot at booths where I am not getting votes. They will indulge in riots and capture those booths," he said.
