Earthquake tremors felt on Konkan Railway route

CBD-Belapur: In an odious experience, the passengers on the trains of a few stations in Chiplun–Ukshi section on the CBD-Belapur headquartered Konkan Railway route, felt earthquake tremors at 7.33am yesterday.

The quake measured 3.2 on the Richter scale and was reported by station masters of Kamathe, Savarda, Ukshi and Sangameshwar stations. No damage has occurred to any of the engineering structures on Konkan Railway route following the quiver.

Immediately after getting information about the flutter, local Konkan Railway officials inspected all the engineering structures in the concerned sections and reported that all the engineering structures, including tracks, cuttings, tunnels and bridges as safe.

As a result of the quake, train No12432 Rajdhani Express stopped in the section for 35 minutes, 12617 Mangala Express for about an hour and 19577 Tiruvelveli-Hapa Express for 45 minutes.
The trains were restarted on getting the track fit certificate at 9.20am.
