Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude hits Nepal, no casualty reported

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.0 on Richter scale struck Nepal around 8 am on Friday.

According to the Indian Met Department, the earthquake hit Nepal at 8:21 am at the depth of 10 km.

 

The epicenter is located at longitude 86.1812 and latitude 27.7986, 83 km east of Kathmandu. No casualty has been reported so far.

The tremors was reported two days after a strong earthquake shook north India on Wednesday.

A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck Uttrakhand's Rudraprayag.

The earthquake struck the region at 20:49 (08:49 pm) at a depth of 30 KM, according to the IMD's National Seismological Centre.

Media reports said that the tremors were felt in many parts of North India, including Chandigarh and Dehradun.

Although tremors lasted for only a few seconds, it triggered panic at many places, especially Dehradun where people were seen rushing out of their houses.

There were no reports of loss of property or life.
