Telangana CID, probing the leak of Medical EAMCET-II question paper, on Thursday arrested two persons and found that two sets of the paper were leaked prior to the examination conducted earlier this month. The agency has also identified some suspected middlemen during the investigation.

"In the investigation conducted so far, some brokers and sub-brokers belonging to Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, Bengaluru and other places have been identified," a CID release stated.

The duo, identified as Vishnudhar alias Vishnuvardhan and Thirumal alias Thirumal Rao, were arrested from Hyderabad.

"Vishnuvardhan and Rao allegedly contacted students, parents and took about 25 of them to Bengaluru where one Rajagopal Reddy arranged practice of questions and answers to them (before appearing for the exams)," the release said.

On July 25, the CID had registered a case under relevant sections of IPC and other provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractices and Unfair means) Act, 1997, after it found in its preliminary inquiry that there was prima facie a case for registering an FIR.

As part of its investigation, CID had yesterday taken three persons into custody, who it said came together, took out the question paper and trained some students who appeared for the exams and subsequently got more marks.

"During the course of investigation, suspected students were secured by the CID and were thoroughly examined. It was established that Telangana State EAMCET-II-2016 (Medical) question papers (two sets) were leaked before the date and time of exam," the agency said.

Investigation also revealed that students appearing for TS EAMCET-II-2016 (Medical) examination from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were taken to camps set up in at least at five cities about two to three days prior to the exam and were given practice with the leaked copies of two question papers consisting of 320 questions with correct answers, CID said.

The Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET-II) was conducted on July 9 and the results were declared on July 14. The examination was conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad.

Following reports about the leak of the question paper ahead of the examination, the JNTU officials had requested Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma to look into the issue, who in turn ordered a preliminary inquiry by CID on July 20.

According to reports, few candidates who got a rank in thousands in Andhra Pradesh EAMCET had got a rank below 500 in Telangana EAMCET-II.
