One of the most senior Minister in the Modi government, Sushma Swaraj has been going through a rough patch on Twitter. She has faced the ire of many right-wing accounts for her stance in the Lucknow inter-faith couple passport row.A troll even asked Sushma Swaraj's husband to beat her up, which prompted him to protest strongly on Twitter.
Despite that, Swaraj is continuing to face heat on Twitter. However, rather than getting cowed down by it, she has boldly faced all the abuse and trolling, making it clear that it is okay to disagree but using cuss words is unacceptable. Along with trolls, some people who haven't got help while being stranded in faraway land despite urging for it, often end up talking in a rude tone with veteran politician Sushma Swaraj. On Tuesday too, something similar happened when a lady asked Sushma Swaraj not to 'beat around the bush' and say what has been done to provide help to his friend in Indonesia.
Despite the hostility, Swaraj replied in a cool manner, calling the lady as 'beta'.
Beta - I understand your anger. We are making all out efforts. Our Consul General and Ambassador had taken up this matter. Now we have spoken to the Foreign Minister of Indonesia. Even now our Deputy Chief of Mission is in the Foreign Ministry to resolve this. https://t.co/6LXhJ3rqQT

Then another Twitter user asked why is the lady taking such a harsh tone with the External Affairs Minister.
Why she is using harsh language against EAM? Unfortunate that everyone assumes that help is a right. Please exercise patience

This was 'quote tweeted' by Swaraj saying, "
Don't feel bad. EAM is listening to only harsh language these days. https://t.co/x2WY6p20AI

Swaraj said, " Don't feel bad. EAM is listening to only harsh language these days".
Many would interpret it as Swaraj expressing regret about being hounded by trolls despite a long and illustrious public career, where she has helmed many posts with ease. Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh and Ram Madhav so far have come out in support of Sushma Swaraj, strongly condemning the online lynch mob. However, that hasn't exactly calm the tempers of many who believe Swaraj was wrong in handling the Lucknow passport case.
