E-commerce giant Snapdeal has been taken to court for selling sex toys, according to a qz.com report.

Suhas Joshi, a Delhi-based Supreme Court lawyer, has taken Snapdeal to court for selling sex toys and accessories, because he wanted to test the limits of the anti-homosexuality law Section 377, the report said. He has also filed a complaint against Ohmysecret.com another e-commerce company for 'abetting gay sex and exhibiting obscenity'. Ohmysecret.com has shut down business after making substantial losses.

The products marketed and sold by these companies - such as anal lubes and massagers - reportedly violate Section 377, and Sections 292, 292 A, 293 and 294 which prohibit obscenity in public. The magisterial court has ordered an examination into this matter.

Joshi claims that he is not against homosexuality. He infact intends to 'highlight the unreasonableness of Section 377', says an Indian Express report.

According to the qz report, India's online sexual wellness industry is expected to amount to Rs 8,700 crore ($1.4 billion) by 2020.
