DUSU polls: Newly elected president speaks about road ahead

He said his priority will be to pressurise the Delhi government to implement Room Rent Control Act, as students of the varsity were suffering a lot.

The Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) election was swept by Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarathi Parishad (ABVP) for the second year consecutively, on Saturday. Satendra Awana, student of MA Buddhist Studies, defeated Pradeep Vijayran of National Students' Union of India (NSUI) by a margin of more than 6000 votes.

Sunny Dedha of ABVP was elected Vice President. He defeated Garima Rana of AAP's student wing, Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS), by a margin of more than 7000 votes. The NSUI's Prerna Singh stood third on the vice presidential seat.

Anjali Rana, the single female candidate in ABVP's panel defeated her nearest rival Amit Sehrawat of NSUI by a margin of 4000 votes. Chhatr Pal Yadav was appointed Joint Secretary. He defeated Deepak Chaudhary of NSUI by 6000 votes.

Talking to media, the newly elected president Satendra Awana thanked the DU students for voting for ABVP. He said his priority will be to pressurise the Delhi government to implement Room Rent Control Act, as students of the varsity were suffering a lot.
