Durgapur: Bengal family allegedly attacked by TMC for going to BJP event

A family was attacked for joining BJP allegedly by TMC goons in Durgapur, West Bengal. According to a Zee 24 Ghanta report, the attackers apparently tried to take the family to the TMC party office in order to harass them. But since they couldn't do so, a lady and her girl child were verbally abused in front of their house by TMC workers.

After this the family went to the police station, but there they were asked not to support BJP. Post this, the hapless family is currently living in a state of fear. 

According to reports, Kajol Goswami and his wife Anima are active BJP workers. Anima is the local head of BJP women's wing. On 24th July, the couple took part in a BJP meet and attracted the wrath of the local TMC leaders. They were summoned to the party office.

 However, they refused to go, which further angered the members of the ruling party in Bengal. On 26th June, group of TMC workers assembled in front of their house and started abusing Anima and her daughter. They even pelted stone reportedly and desecrated the water pump in front of their house. The police initially didn't want to file any complaint. However, later they relented after senior district officials intervened. 

The family is under so much stress that they are currently virtually home-ridden. Their daughter is currently not even going for schools and tuition. The family is even contemplating leaving Parulia. 

TMC has refused to take any responsibility for the incident. Local TMC leaders say that the family is targeted owing to some personal feud and the party is in no way associated with the fracas.
