Delhi University has from this year onwards decided to conduct a centralised fitness test for undergraduate admissions under its sports quota.

Earlier, the fitness tests and trials for the respective sporting disciplines were conducted by the colleges themselves and that often led to the students having to suffer due to the overlapping of dates.

"From this year, there will be a centralised fitness test which will be conducted by the university and the colleges will be sent the results. The trials for the particular sports will be conducted by the colleges themselves," DU spokesperson Malay Neerav on Saturday said at a press conference.

"The colleges will also be mandated to videograph the sports trials and upload them on to their websites. There will be a grievance committee to look into complaints of unfair or biased process, if any," he said.
As per the university's existing guidelines, the colleges are allowed to admit up to five per cent of its students under the sports quota.
