Drunk man reveals secret of Rs 5cr gold loot; arrested

An instance of how liquor consumption can land you in jail came to fore when one Babulal Yadav was nabbed by Vidyadhar Nagar police for stealing Rs 5 crore gold from a Pune bank. The accused had looted the gold on June 22 with his two aides.

The police nabbed Yadav on a tip-off from some gamblers who were arrested from Shrimadhopur on August 23. The police had recovered some gold jewellery from the gamblers.

This was taken in connection with the gold loot from a gold loan company in Jaipur. During the investigation, the accused Sunil Jat revealed that they had stolen gold from Babulal Yadav’s room. He also told that he did not know Babulal Yadav initially and met him on a wine shop and became friends.

In a drunken state, Babulal disclosed his secret of looting the gold from the bank. To this, Sunil and his two friends got him highly drunk and stole 400 grams gold from his room.

Babulal had shared the looted 16-kg gold in three parts and gave two parts to his aides. He buried his share in his field in his village and came to Jaipur with some part of gold.

Police said that they have also recovered the remaining 1.5 kg gold that Babulal had hidden. While the remaining two accused are being searched. “We have arrested Babulal Yadav with the joint efforts of Sikar and Jaipur police.

We have recovered around 2 kg gold from him while search for other two accused is on Babulal’s information,” said Bhupendra Dak, Commissioner of Police, Jaipur.
