DRI seizes 1238 vials of banned Ketamine injection

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 1238 vials of banned psychotropic drug "Ketamine" injection worth Rs 68.13 lakh in Bihar's Patna district yesterday night, DRI sources said today.

The vials were recovered from a place under the jurisdiction of Bypass police station, DRI sources said.

Acting on a tip-off, DRI officials intercepted and searched a private bus - Bengal Tiger.

The bus was travelling to Kolkata from Patna. The DRI officials found two bags of banned "Ketamine" injections from the bus.

The approximate value of the seized 1238 vials of Ketamine in international market would be around Rs 68.13 lakh, sources said.

The booking agent of the bus told the DRI officials that the said consignment of Ketamine was booked for Kolkata.

The person who booked the consignment was not travelling in the bus, he told DRI officials.

The psychotropic drug was being smuggled from Patna to Myanmar via Kolkata and Manipur by violating the provisions of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, official sources said.

The matter is being investigated, A DRI official said.
