Dr Syedna on 10-day visit to Surat

Religious leader of Dawoodi Bohra community Dr Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin will be in Surat on a 10-day visit from November 15 to offer vayaz (prayers) to Md Imaam Hussain. Dr Syedna will be accompanied by his successor Syedi Muffadal Saifuddin.

Dr Syedna will offer Athura Vayaz, an important religious ceremony performed during the month of Moharram. Vayaz is performed to mourn the death of Mohammad Imaam Hussain, who died fighting for truth. Mourning starts from the next day of Muslim New Year.

Muffadal Saifuddin will also take part in vayaz. Besides vayaz, other religious programmes have also been organised by Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat Committee Surat. Thousands of Bohra community members have started arriving at Surat to attend vayaz and have a glimpse of their religious leader.
