It is interesting to note that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had taken a clear stand of not interfering even during the controversy on Bajirao-Mastani, the movie made by Bhansali on the life and love-story of Peshwa ruler Bajirao, the first and Mastani. Fadnavis had taken the stand that once Censor has cleared the film, his Government was duty-bound to provide security for the theaters in case of any agitation against the film. In a recent interview before leaving for Dawos, Fadnavis has made it clear that Government would ensure release of the film if it s given clearance by Apex Court.

Reiterating that it is the opinion of the historian who has watched the film that there is distortion of history, Rawal said, "If at all one raises the issue of money spend by Bhansali, we Rajputs would collect money for Bhansali if needed but would oppose such a film which distorts history and paints Rajputs in bad light."
