The Army has hit back at politicians who invoked the religion of soldiers who died in Saturday's terror attack in Jammu's Sunjuwan.

Northern Command Lieutenant General Devraj Anbu said on Wednesday that people of Jammu and Kashmir have shown it (thousands turned out to pay last respects to the martyrs) and it is a testimony for all those who are wanting to communalise the martyrdom.

This follows AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi's remarks that of the seven people killed in Sunjuwan, five were Kashmiri Muslims. "Why is not anything being said on this? Those, who suspect the loyalty of Muslims and dub them Pakistani, should learn lesson from this. We are laying down our lives", Owaisi had said.

Anbu said people who do not know the functioning of armed forces are making these statements. "If any of you have visited any of our formations or wherever our religious places are, there is a Sarva Dharma Sathal. I have one at my residence. We do not communalise", he said.

The NC, however, said Army Generals should not give moral lectures.
