Sheena was an achiever, a good student, a great dancer, and was forever smiling. Most of us who studied with her in Disneyland High School, now renamed Sudershan High School, knew little of the troubles she faced in school. In the last week, as various revelations in the case tried to take the story forward in different directions, we came across a series of diaries that Sheena wrote while in school. In these diaries, one can hear the voice of a troubled teen, grappling with so much more than we all thought she was capable of.

The singular intent behind the publishing this diary is to get her voice out, about what she thought and what she went through. The entries were written from 2003 onwards, at a time when she was preparing for her boards and had just joined Faculty Higher Secondary School for class 11 and 12. This was just months before she left for Mumbai.

Following are some excerpts from what she wrote:

"And about mummy, I don't even know what do I feel for her. Did she remember me? Sadly, I don't even remember seeing mummy. I want to pronounce the word 'Maa' and I think I would get the chance. Whatever, she is my mother and in some corner of my heart, I've got love for her. I feel like touching her and I want to hold her tight so as not to allow her to leave me any more. But, daddy don't worry I love you a lot and no one else can take your place ever."

"Dear Daddy, How are you? I'm fine out here. Daddy there is news for you. My HSLC examination is over. So. I don't have to study now and I received your New Year's card. Well, I'm so sorry for not writing to you since all these months. I just finished my exams last March. But I'm very angry with you for not ringing me up. I'm having my classes from September. Miss you a lot. Hope you do the same. I'll wait for your letter. With lots of love and kisses, your Sheena."

"They don't like you. I just keep on listening without uttering a word. They won't admit their daughter's fault. There are some things you never forget in life. I love them even when I recall some bitter moments." (They here being her grandparents)

"Today I went to attend Sports Day. Oh! I enjoyed it a lot and at the same time injured myself too. I had cuts on my leg and even a huge bump appeared on my leg, i.e., my right leg. Today I played football. Wow! Terrific performance by me. We won the game against class nine."

"First day of class X when we are to attend our class. But how horrible and terrible , the very first day we have to change our classroom, out of the main building to a 'jhoparpatti'. Eh! It smells so bad. Can't tolerate. But there we can have a lot of 'masti'."

"Today we stayed till late evening at school, and worked for Saraswati Puja. Not too much of work. But we felt very good and sad at the same time, since it was the last Saraswati Puja of our school life."

"Saraswati Puja today. Today, I wore a yellow sari that Aita's one. I was looking very nice, 'touch-wood'. X&Y came, X wearing black and Y wearing green. We went to school and started to peel off pea and take out the seed. We served the students with 'khichdi' and 'bilaki tak'. I even had a fierce fight with Z. Wow! The fight was great but not full of 'dhishum' 'dhishum'." (X,Y and Z are her classmates whose names have been withheld)
