London attacks | Metropolitan Police arrest 12 in east London

Police made 12 arrests in east London on Sunday in connection with an attack on Saturday night in which seven people died and 48 were injured, London's Metropolitan Police Service said in a statement.

"Officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command have this morning, Sunday 4 June, arrested 12 people in Barking, east London, in connection with last night's incidents in London Bridge and the Borough Market area. Searches of a number of addresses in Barking are continuing," the statement said.

Earlier, three assailants drove a van into pedestrians at high speed on London Bridge on Saturday night before stabbing revellers on nearby streets, killing at least seven people and wounding dozens in what police suspect was a terrorist attack.

Two Chinese PLA helicopters enter Indian airspace, IAF probing incident

Two helicopters of the People's Liberation Army of China hovered over Chamoli district in Uttarakhand yesterday, triggering concern in India's security establishment about the PLA's fourth such incursion into Indian airspace since March this year.

Official sources said the choppers, which returned to the Chinese side after about five minutes, could have carried out aerial photography of Indian ground troops during what was possibly a reconnaissance mission.

Women to be allowed in combat role in Indian Army, says Gen Bipin Rawat

In a transformational move, the Indian Army is all set to open up combat positions for women, a gender barrier broken by only a few countries globally.

Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat said the process to allow women in combat role, currently an exclusive domain of men, is moving fast and initially women will be recruited for positions in military police.

Perhaps they want to give Kashmir to Pakistan: Naidu slams Congress over booklet saying 'India Occupied Kashmir'

Slamming the Congress for incorrectly labelling Jammu and Kashmir as "India occupied Kashmir" in its booklet, Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu today said people would never forgive the party for such a mindset.

In a major gaffe, the Congress yesterday released a booklet with an incorrect map of the country. Page 12 of the 16-page booklet titled 'Rashtriya Suraksha par Aanch', which was distributed by the Congress, showed the entire state labelled as "Indian Occupied Kashmir" in the context of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
