1) Indian Army's surgical strike kills 38 terrorists; all-party meet ends

In response to the recent Uri attack that killed 18 soldiers, the Indian Army on Wednesday night conducted surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) on terror launch pads, said Director General of Military Operations (DGMO).

Addressing a joint press conference with External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup on Thursday, DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh said, "Indian Army conducted surgical strikes on terror launch pads on the LoC. Heavy damages have been caused to terrorists and many of them have been killed."

2) Pakistan rejects India's claim of 'surgical strikes' across LoC

Pakistan on Thursday rejected India's claim of a 'surgical strike' across the Line of Control (LoC), saying that the incident was 'cross-border fire'.

"There has been no surgical strike by India,instead there had been cross border fire initiated and conducted by India which is existential phenomenon. As per rules of engagement same was strongly and befittingly responded by Pakistani troops," said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in its press release.

3) BSE Sensex tanks 465 points as Indian Army reports surgical strikes across LOC

The 30-share BSE Sensex tanked 573 points intraday as the Indian Army announced the surgical strikes carried out last night on terror launch pads across the Line of Control. The BSE Sensex breached the 28,000-level and fell under it.

On Thursday, the BSE closed the trading session down 465.28 points or 1.64%, under the 28,000-level, at 27,827.53. The NSE Nifty index closed down 153.90 points or 1.76% lower at 8,591.25 from the previous place.

4) Uran 'terror' scare: Schoolgirl reveals it was a prank; did for 'some thrill', says report

The terror alert in Uran near Mumbai that lead to a four days search operation sending multi-security agencies into a tizzy, was a prank by a schoolgirl for 'some thrill'.

According to Times of India's report, during the second round of the investigation, the girl said that it was prank for 'some thrill', as she was prompted to do so after seeing the pictures of Islamic State terrorists wearing black clothes and flashing automatic weapons.

5) Cauvery row: Karnataka's 'deliberate defiance' against spirit of Constitution, says Jayalalithaa

Tearing into Karnataka for treating the Supreme Court orders on release of Cauvery water with 'utter contempt', Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday said such 'deliberate defiance' goes against the spirit of the Constitution and amounts to "contempt" of the Court.

In her speech, read out by Chief Secretary P Ramamohana Rao, at the meeting of the Chief Ministers of two states convened by the Water Resources Ministry, she said her state has "scrupulously" adhered to every Apex Court order.
