Hitting out at the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre, the DMK on Saturday resolved to put an end to the "fascist BJP's rule" at the Centre.

In the first meeting of party's district secretaries, MLAs and MPs chaired by party president MK Stalin, the party accused the BJP government of ignoring the interests of Tamil Nadu, affecting plurality and promoting communalism and terming human rights activists and those opposed to the BJP as anti-nationals.

In its resolution titled "Reject and defeat the BJP's saffronisation dreams", it said the DMK would never allow BJP's communal designs to take shape in the state and would "pay any price to uphold the Preamble of the Constitution."

Stating that an undeclared emergency was in force in the country, the party charged that media critical of the BJP government are being "intimidated" while Dalits and minorities were being targeted in many places.

It also attacked the Centre on issues ranging from demonetization, Rafale deal, NEET and the prevailing economic situation. "The BJP has installed an electoral dictatorship and has been running an anti-people government for the last four years," the DMK said.

Turning the heat on its arch-rival AIADMK, the DMK, in another resolution, charged that the former's government in Tamil Nadu had become the "epitome of corruption" and vowed to unseat it. It announced state-wide protests against the government on September 18. It sought the dismissal of state Health Minister C Vijayabaskar and removal of police chief TK Rajendran, on whose premises the CBI had conducted searches on Thursday in connection with the Gutka scam, relating to alleged payoffs by a manufacturer.

The meeting also demanded an immediate release of the seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, following a direction from the Supreme Court that the state Governor can consider the mercy plea of one of them, AG Perarivalan. The Tamil Nadu cabinet must meet immediately and adopt a resolution on the matter and send it to the Governor, the DMK demanded.
