Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader MK Stalin who was travelling on the Chennai metro has been caught on camera allegedly slapping a passenger. The passenger in question is reported to be a part worker.

The video that was shot on Wednesday has gone viral. The party has however denied the charges against Stalin.

According to reports, Stalin, son of DMK Chief Karunanidhi, was travelling in the newly launched metro with DMDK founder Vijaykanth. Former Mayor of Chennai M Subramaniam was also present with them.

The DMK leader has denied allegations of 'slapping' the passenger and said that his hand inadvertently touched his face while gesturing.

"I did not slap him, I only gestured him to move away from a woman whose feet was being trampled by the passenger. My hand (inadvertently) touched his face while gesturing," Stalin told PTI when asked on the issue.

Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa has attacked the DMK leader for not maintaining dignity in a public place.

"This is strongly condemnable, such an uncivilised behaviour is unbecoming of an MLA," the AIADMK supremo said in a statement. She also charged that Stalin travelled in the train only for "vain publicity and to seek political mileage."

According to reports, Former DMK member and current Congress spokesperson, actress Khushbu, has said that the whole video must be seen for a correct assesment.

The Chennai metro was inaugurated on Monday and both Stalin and Vijayakanth said that the project was initiated by the previous DMK regime.
