Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi said on Thursday that Tamil Nadu needs a viable alternative to the DMK and the AIADMK who only spend time in fighting each other and care little about people.

"When the DMK comes to power they are busy to finish off their AIADMK and vice-versa. They simply do not have time to work for the people. Therefore you must do away with these two parties. Those who waste time in finishing one another, do you think that they will have time to do welfare for you all? In order to change the future of Tamil Nadu so that in every village electricity and clean drinking water reaches in every household, and youth gets employment you need a viable alternative. BJP in its NDA fold has tied up with Captain Vijayakanth, Radhakrishan, Vaiko, Dr. Ramadoss has kept before you a viable alternative. Therefore, I request the brothers of Tamil Nadu that it must elect NDA candidates at the centre for its interest," Modi said.

Modi said that it was unimaginable to see the sea of people here and told the crowd that this election was fought by the people themselves and not by any party or candidates.

"Can anyone imagine that in the country's southernmost tip there will be a sea of people attending this rally? I started my election campaign after visiting Vaishno Devi shrine in Udhampur in Jammu, and today I bow before the feet of Swami Vivekananda in Kanyakumari. I tell to the political pundits that this sheer crowd shows that it is not a storm but a tsunami, therefore the government in Delhi cannot remain safe. This election is not a fight of any political party or by any leaders, it is the people who are fighting this election. This election is such that following the declaration of elections, the winner has been declared. Congress will have to pay the price for the sins it has committed and nobody can save Congress this time," Modi thundered.

Modi also told the people at Kanyakumari that this place could become a tourist hot spot and that youth of this district won't have to leave this place if this place is developed properly.

"If you want to see Lord Tiruvalluvar then you have to come to Kanyakumari, same if you want to pay respect Swami Vivekanada, or to Mahatma Gandhi. At the same time it is Kanyakumari you can see the sunrise and sunset. Kanyakumari is such that it has the potential to become a big tourist hub in the country that tourists from all over the country can come. The central government spends so much on advertisements on tourism but if had taken the initiative to construct double line railway from Chennai to Kanyalumari and created proper infrastructure for tourists' stay then it would have boosted tourism in Kanyakumari. In the entire world it is estimated that around three trillion dollars of business could happen in tourism alone. Tourism is such a business where you need to make very lesser amount of investment but in that process even the poorest could even make a living for themselves. People who sell flowers, biscuits, tea sellers, taxi drivers all can earn. Kanyakumari has so much potential in itself to earn revenues from tourism that not a single youth need not leave the district in search of a job. But the unfortunate part is that neither the state or the central government is bothered about your development and hence your development is halted," Modi said.

Modi remarked that Kanyakumari as a district is unique on its own in the country, as in a single district one can find stone carving artisans, wooden carving artisans, metal-ware artisans, those who make garlands for idols, also people who make articles from coconut shells. Hence, Kanyakumari can play a very important role for the nation and for the state. (ANI)
