Is Jammu and Kashmir on the path to create its own Mahagatbandhan to take on BJP and its allies in the 2019 polls? After the bitter fallout with the BJP, PDP is warming up to its arch rivals — Congress and National Conference.

Despite the government putting a spanner in their plans to form the government, the three parties are rejoicing the dissolution of the Legislative Assembly with former CM Mehbooba Mufti going all out to thank former chief minister Omar Abdullah and Congress leader Ambika Soni for their support.

"In my 26 years as a politician, I thought I had seen it all! But like they say never say never! Nevertheless, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Omar Abdullah and Ambika Soni for helping us achieve the seemingly impossible," Mufti tweeted after the Governor dissolved the Assembly.

Mehbooba said that in the past five months, regardless of political affiliations, they shared the view that the state assembly be dissolved immediately to avert horse trading and defections. "Oddly enough, our pleas fell on deaf ears. But who would have thought that the very idea of a grand coalition would give such jitters," she said.

Abdullah too joined in and wished her good luck for the battle ahead. "I never thought I'd be retweeting anything you said while agreeing with you. Politics truly is a strange world. Good luck for the battle ahead. Once again, the wisdom of the people will prevail," Abdullah tweeted.

What added a pun to the whole saga was Mufti's tweet on the facsimile at Raj Bhawan. "In today's age of technology, it is very strange that the fax machine at His Excellency Governor's residence didn't receive our fax, but swiftly issued one regarding the Assembly dissolution," she said.

Adding to the pun, Omar suggested that the Raj Bhawan needs a new fax machine. "J&K Raj Bhavan needs a new fax machine urgently," he said.
