Dissident group in AAP snipes at party leadership

A dissident group of AAP on Wednesday sniped at the party by raising certain issues highlighted by AAP leader Anand Kumar in a post on a social networking site which he had deleted after the debate on it went "haywire".

Kumar, a national executive member of the party who had unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha polls, admitted to have raised certain issues about the party's strategy for assembly polls, some three days back but said he deleted the post as it was being "misused" by AAP Volunteers Action Manch (AVAM) and he was very much associated with the party. "I raised a few questions and the purpose of it was to start a debate on how should we fight elections and the overall electoral reforms. Yes, we at AAP are a confused lot and we are open about our weakness.

"Everyone in the party...Arvind Kejriwal, Yogendra Yadav, Rajmohan Gandhi contested elections and they walked a straight line. But what happened? How are we going to counter the forces of crony capitalism and should we use Krishna neeti? How will the future generation look at us? Will they say we were fools? Or we did a right thing," Kumar said.

The JNU professor added he will again post questions on the social networking site in an appropriate way. In a release AVAM, which has been severely critical of AAP, said "Prof Anand's post shows how AAP is caught in a moral conundrum. His post also sheds light on the rising discontent within the party cadre. AVAM in the past has raised similar concerns. "We urge the senior party leaders not to shy away from addressing issues that have for long put the party's internal democracy in the dock," AVAM said.
