In an hour from now, the fate of Goa politics will be decided at the office of Governor Mridula Sinha, where the Goa Congress MLAs are meeting her. The lawmakers are seeking the dismissal of Manohar Parrikar government in the stated.

The latest strategic manoeuvre comes amid reports that Parrikar had to be airlifted for cancer treatment in AIIMS, Delhi. At present, there’s an alliance government in Goa led by the BJP.

On Monday, the Congress had staked claim to form government in Goa citing 'collapse' of administration.

The impasse in Goa with the Chief Minister in hospital due to a pancreatic ailment is only becoming acute as days go by. The Congress, which has 16 members in the 40-member Goa Assembly, submitted a memorandum to Governor Mridula Sinha. "We urged her not to dissolve the Assembly and instead invite the Congress to form the government," said Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar.

However, the ruling BJP maintained that the party-led alliance is stable. The BJP with its 14 members has support from three legislators each from the Maharashtravadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and Goa Forward Party (GFP) and three Independents.

State BJP unit chief Vinay Tendulkar said that the Congress does not have enough numbers. "The BJP does have numbers. All our supporting parties and Independents have full faith in Parrikar's leadership," Tendulkar said. "They have already made their representation to the BJP general secretary and central observers Ram Lal, reiterating their support to Parrikar and BJP," Tendulkar told DNA.

Meanwhile, the Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday said that BJP president Amit Shah had called him to discuss the political situation in Goa and to "ensure stability".

With Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar admitted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi, opposition Congress has said it is going to seek dismissal of the BJP-led government.

GFP, which has three MLAs, is an ally of the BJP.

"Amit Shah had called me before BJP's national observers arrived here to take stock of the political situation. He had basically called to discuss the political situation and to ensure stability of the Manohar Parrikar government," Sardesai told PTI.

"Shah informed me about (scheduled) visit of BJP observers. He spoke about how important allies are in the government and their role in ensuring stability," the GFP chief said.
