Trinamool Congress MP Anupam Hazra, who had complained about not getting "enough space" to work for the people of his constituency, said on Monday he has no intention to leave the party.

"A section of the media has drawn some conclusion from some of my recent comments but I have no intention to leave Trinamool Congress and join any other political party," Hazra told PTI. He said he had joined TMC after being inspired by the ideology and leadership of Mamata Banerjee. "I don't have any political ambition, rather I like to be more active in academic arena." Hazra, an MP from Bolpur in Birbhum district, said he has difference of opinion with district party leaders about priority of works.

"Being a student of social work I know the aspirations of the people of my constituency but I can't convince a section of my district leaders what works should get priority," he said. Hazra is an assistant professor in the Department of Social Work at the Visva  Bharati university. "I have informed higher ranks of my party of the situation. They assured me that very soon they will try to sort out the differences through one to one meetings," the 32-year-old MP said.

On the issue, TMC Secretary General Partha Chatterjee said, "I have enquired of him what kind of work he wants to do and what kind of difficulties he is facing. "Let him give that in writing, we will help him in all possible ways," Chatterjee said in Kolkata.
