As the standoff between the Sena-BJP continues over the seat-sharing row, Shiv Sena’s youth wing chief Aditya Thackeray has now stepped in saying that differences can exist in any alliance, but they would want to take the alliance ahead.

Barely hours after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders reiterated that they wanted the alliance to continue and that a new proposal would be sent to the Shiv Sena, Sena leader Subhash Desai and Aditya Thackeray held a meeting with BJP's Maharashtra election incharge Om Prakash Mathur.

After the meeting Aditya Thackeray said, "The alliance made by Balasaheb Thackeray and Pramod Mahajan should continue. Both the parties want the alliance to remain. We don't have any ego. Shiv Sena is looking at protecting the future of Maharashtra and will discuss how to take the alliance forward."

Meanwhile, mentioning that they didn't want to break the alliance, state BJP unit President Devendra Fadnavis said, "BJP has given the proposal and we are hoping to get an appropriate and positive response from the Sena."

Senior Sena leader Subhash Desai said, "The Sena-BJP will fight the election together to oust the Congress-NCP from power. The discussion between both the parties was fruitful. One more meeting will be held on Friday night to discuss the seat-sharing and the final decision will be taken by Uddhav Thackeray and Om Prakash Mathur."

"Sena leaders had come to discuss the issue with us and we have given our proposal to them. Now it is up to them to decide," said Mathur.

Earlier in a day, throwing the ball in the Sena's court, BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar said, "We want the 25-year-old alliance between the Shiv Sena and BJP to continue and the new proposal will be sent to Shiv Sena."

"The formula of 119 seats is old now. There are 59 seats that the Shiv Sena and 19 seats that the BJP have not won in the last 25 years. Each and every seat should be looked at from the perspective of winning and rethinking should be done." he said.
