Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman mislead the Parliament on Rafale deal pricing and the purchase of aircraft lacked transparency.

Replying to Union Minister Arun Jaitley’s blog that Congress president Rahul Gandhi had concocted a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, party leader Anand Sharma who was also part of meeting along with former PM Manmohan Singh defended Gandhi.
“During the meeting with French President, where I and Manmohan Singh were present, on a specific query from Rahul Gandhi if there is any objection on part of French to disclose price of the aircraft, French president clearly stated there is no condition of their part,” said Sharma, party’s deputy leader in Rajya Sabha. He said there is difference between the classified and commercial information. Sharma said Gandhi had never asked the French president for classified information.
