With two more hands than the usual 10 depicted in the impression of Goddess Durga during the Durga Puja festival, a club in Chakdah, West Bengal, has inaugurated an idol of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. This idol, which transposes the likeness of Mamata Banerjee onto that of Durga, will now be worshipped over the next few days till the end of the puja.

Donning her signature white saree with blue border and the slippers, the 5.5 ft model of Banerjee is made of fibreglass. Each of the 10 hands of the idol is shown holding Mamata Banerjee's accomplishments over the years, while two of her hands are folded as a mark of gratitude. The background features all the 25 districts of West Bengal. The idol also showcases some of the schemes that the chief minister introduced in the state.

According to The Telegraphthe idol was inaugurated at the Prantik Club on October 4.

Mamata Banerjee, who is already busy with multiple puja pandal inaugurations, also drew the 'third eye' at a club in South Kolkata, marking the beginning of the puja. The drawing of the 'third eye' culturally signifies that the idol has the consciousness of the Goddess.

For the occasion of Durga Puja, Banerjee also released a song 'Prithibi Ektai Desh' (World is one nation), The Indian Express reported.
