Faraaz Ayaaz Hossain reportedly refused to leave Tarishi Jaina and Abinta Kabir, behind, after which he was killed.
20-year-old Faraaz Ayaaz Hossain, one of the 20 hostages killed by terrorists at Dhaka's Holey Artisan Bakery, had reportedly refused an offer from the gunmen to leave because he didn’t wanted to desert two friends, media reports said.
Tarishi Jain, Abinta Kabir, and Faraaz Ayaaz Hossain who were killed in a deadly attack were all alumni of the American International School Dhaka (AISD).
18-year-old Tarishi was a student at UC Berkeley. Abinta, who was from Miami, was a rising sophomore at Emory's Oxford College while Faraaz, a junior from Dhaka, was a graduate of Oxford College and a student at the university's Goizueta Business School.
Faraaz had come to Dhaka on May 18 for his summer holidays and was with his two friends at Holey Artisan for dinner when the terrorists attacked,” a family associate told Indian Express.

According to the report, sources said that Faraaz may have sacrificed his life, as he did not want to leave his two friends behind. This was revealed during the questioning of the hostages that were rescued.
"Faraaz was given the option of leaving on Friday night. Since Tarishi and Abinta were wearing western clothes, the terrorists asked Faraaz where they were from. He reportedly told them that they were from India and the US — but while Abinta was studying in the US, she was a Bangladeshi citizen," the report said quoting sources.
Faraaz was the grandson of Latifur Rahman, Chairman of Transcom Group and Shahnaz Rahman, among the 20 killed in the hostage situation at the bakery in Dhaka.
According to another Times of India report, Faraaz was in Kolkata, doing an internship with Pepsico, until a few days before the attack.
Faraaz's elder brother Zaraif described him as 'extremely sensitive towards others' and always 'careful' about how his actions would affect those around him.

Twenty hostages were hacked to death by suspected ISIS militants inside a bakery popular with expats in the diplomatic zone in Dhaka. It is now termed as the worst terror attack in Bangladesh. Commandos launched an assault on the terrorists, killing six and capturing one alive.
Most of those killed were found with their throats slit. Islamic State group had responsibility for the attack through its Amaq news agency, nearly four hours after the hostage crisis unfolded. Bangladesh, however, blames "homegrown" Islamist terrorists and Pakistan's spy agency ISI for the attack, ruling out the involvement of the Islamic State.
