After showing his displeasure earlier, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel on Sunday assumed the charge of his office.  "BJP chief Amit Shah talked to me in the morning and assured me that I would get all the departments back," Nitin Patel said while announcing his decision.

"I have no complaints or dismay now," he added.  He also said that he never crossed the line of discipline in the party.

Nitin Patel thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah, the Patel community and leaders "who showed support and solidarity for him".

Earlier, a day after expressing his strong displeasure about significant portfolios being taken away from him for his second stint in the Vijay Rupani government, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel stayed home on Saturday, meeting with supporters at his residence. Days after being sworn into office, Patel had refused to take charge of the portfolios allotted to him.
