Depression intensifies into a cyclonic storm over Andaman Sea

The deep depression over the North Andaman Sea has intensified into a cyclonic storm and is centred over the Southeast Bay of Bengal at about 1,000 km East South East of Visakhapatnam. According to a weather office statement issued here tonight, the depression would move West North-West and intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm in the next 36 hours.

'Cyclone Hudhud' is expected to cross North Andhra Pradesh and Orissa coasts between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur by noon on October 12, 2014, the statement said. Distant warning signal number two has been hoisted at Visakhapatnam, Machilipatnam, Nizampatnam and Krishnapatnam ports warning of the cyclone, the statement said. Distant warning signal number two with section signal number five has been hoisted at Kakinada and Gangavaram ports, the statement said. Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea, the statement said.
